Information about appointments
A standard appointment at Doctors On Brunswick is 15 minutes.
If you have several things to discuss with the doctor or you believe you may need longer (e.g. for medical examinations, health reviews with cervical screening, care plans etc), please notify the receptionist at the time of booking, so a longer appointment can be made.
If you do not notify reception, the doctor will not have time to address all of your issues in one visit. You may be asked to make another appointment and return another day.
We do our best to keep our doctors running on time, however, due to the nature of the industry, emergencies and late appointments can occur that cause delays.
If this is the case, you will be notified upon arrival so you can decide to wait or re-book for another time. We appreciate your understanding during these times.
Walk-in appointments are welcome, however, will be dependent upon doctor availability and wait times. Please understand we will do our best to fit you in where possible.
Our Medical Team
We have a number of very experienced doctors working here at Doctors On Brunswick. For continuity of care we do recommend that you always follow up with your regular GP. Especially in regards to follow up for results that may have been arranged. If you require an appointment that is unrelated to what your regular GP is managing and your GP is not available then we will offer you an appointment with one of their colleagues.
All of your patient files and doctor’s notes are stored electronically, so any doctor in our clinic can access your medical history.
This means if you can see another doctor sooner than your regular doctor you can reducing the risk of any delays in your health care and management.
Baby on the Way? Congratulations! While this is a very special and exciting time, it is often also a time of lots of learning and sometimes confusion. Dr Melissa Clarke and Dr Monisha Lalji are both extremely experienced GP’s and are able to offer you the support and guidance that may be needed during this exciting time. During your Antenatal Appointments the Doctors will discuss:
- Diagnosing Pregnancy
- Considering baseline health
- Pregnancy Scans
- Diet and Weight
- Congenital Disease Screening
- Mental Health
- Bleeding in Pregnancy
- Model of Antenatal Care – Shared Care
When booking an antenatal appointment with one of the Doctors please advise reception of this. Longer appointments will be required for your 2nd visit and your 28 week visit. It is recommended that you should have 4 weekly checks from diagnosis until 28 weeks then fortnightly checks until 36 weeks, then weekly until delivery.
Referrals and Medical Certificates
Medical certificates & referrals to specialists, (such as pathology and radiology services etc) will require an appointment. This includes Centrelink and Workcover certificates.
For legal reasons, “Backdating” of medical certificates and referrals is not possible under any circumstances.
All patients must return to their doctor to receive and discuss results.
For medico-legal reasons, reception and nursing staff will not under any circumstances discuss results over the phone. If contacted by staff and requested to arrange an appointment this does not indicate their is an emergency it is just ensuring that the Doctor is able to discuss any results in person to ensure no confusion. Generally you will be asked to follow up within 2 weeks. If you are recalled to discuss results with the Doctor you will be bulk billed for this visit. Should the visit extend past review of results then their may be a consultation fee that applies.
Results are typically received within the week unless advised otherwise by your doctor.
We offer a convenient reminder system whereby we can notify patients when they are due for immunisations, Cervical Screening, blood tests, health checks and any other important follow-up appointments or procedures.
If you wish to be included in our reminder system, please advise your doctor or nurse.
Importantly, if you do not want to be included in this system, please tell the receptionist, doctor and/or nurse.
You will find that most of your reminders for follow up and appointments will be delivered via an SMS service.
Details of any hospital visits will be sent back to us for continuity of care.
